As the 2024 National Senior Certification (NSC) examinations kick-off, Higher{Education and Training Minister, Dr Nobuhle Pamela Nkabane, has reminded all matriculants to seize the opportunity to make an application for funding with the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).
"The applying window will close on fifteen December 2024, and there are actually not many days left to submit applications. Qualified pupils are urged to apply immediately to secure fiscal assist for his or her post-school education," Nkabane said.
Nkabane extended well wishes to all matriculants, who sat for the National Senior Certificate Exams, with learners writing languages, English and Afrikaans Paper 3.
Nkabane reported this pivotal moment marks the culmination of a long time of effort and encourages the Class of 2024 to approach their tests with perseverance and self-assurance.
With Just over 880 000 candidates, including 727 121 full-time and 155,215 part-time candidates from nsfas across South Africa sit for this yr's matric examinations, across South Africa, Basic Education Minister, Siviwe Gwarube, has assured the public with the department's preparedness to administer the examinations efficiently.
Nkabane highlighted an array of possibilities offered in the Post-School Education and Training (PSET) system, nsfas status check which can be open to all matriculants searching for further education and skills development.
The PSET system consists of:
• Community Education and Training (CET) colleges: Supplying skills development and general education for students who want to continue learning.

• Higher Education institutions: Universities and higher education providers offering degree and diploma programmes.
